Tuesday Night the Falcons traveled to district rivals and class 2 state ranked Gainesville. Gainesville is always a tough place to play because the gym is so loud and Coach Rapert does a great job with his team. We started off the game on a 5-1 run but the Bulldogs game charging back to lead after one 13-12. Gavin Haney had a huge second quarter hitting 11 of his game high 23 points. The game was back and forth the whole way with neither team able to push the lead up. The Bulldogs claimed a 29-28 halftime lead. Defensively the whole team did a great job executing our game plan. Hayden Hunter did a great job matched up with one of the best guards in the area in Thomas Ritter. The third quarter we finally were able to take the lead by outscoring the Bulldogs 20-13 in the third quarter. Matt Rodgers and Treysen Hambelton both had big third quarters scoring 7 each. Matt had his best game of the season. He finally started to play like I knew he could. We knew going in that every possession would be huge and that we had to execute to win. Down the stretch it came down to making free throws and the guys did great going 18-22 from the line in the 4th quarter on our way to a 74-64 win. Gavin Haney lead the way with 23 points and 14 rebounds followed by Matt Rodgers 16, Treysen Hambelton 15, Hayden Hunter 7, Cameron Smith 6, Roman Parker 5 and Marcus Hoover 2. Record 16-3

Thursday Night the class 3 state ranked Mountain View Liberty Eagles came to town. The high scoring Eagles grabbed the opening tip and was off quickly by hitting a 3 on the opening possession. Treysen Hambelton came down on our end and matched it. Liberty hit another 3 on the next possession and Hambelton once again matched it. The game opened up with 4 straight 3’s….Liberty at the end of One led 12-11. The Falcons didn’t panic, rather came out and grabbed a half time lead 24-22 over the Eagles. Liberty came out strong in the 3rd behind Jaleon Acklins 11 point 3rd quarter pulling back to within one point 38-37. Liberty grabbed a 5 point 4th quarter lead but the Falcons came charging back behind the hot shooting hand of Treysen Hambleton’s 22 points. Once again it came down to free throws in the game and we went 11-12 from the line. Marcus Hoover hit 4 straight huge free throws late to extend the lead and help the Falcons over the Eagles 58-53. We are doing a much better job communicating on defense and taking care of the ball offensively. The entire group is playing great team basketball on both ends of the floor and it’s fun to coach and watch. Scoring for the Falcons was Treysen Hambelton with 22, Gavin Haney 19, Matt Rodgers 6, Marcus Hoover 4, Rowdy Kight 4, and Hayden Hunter 3. This improves the Falcons record to 17-3……..

The entire team would like to thank the fans once again for coming out and supporting us. It means a lot to these young student athletes to play in front of a packed house all the time. And we couldn’t forget the thank the ladies at the church for feeding the team before every home game. Thanks so much for all the support…..
