(West Plains) The year in sports at Missouri State University-West Plains was celebrated last night at the West Plains Opera House with a large crowd on hand to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Grizzly Athletics.
Awards and accomplishments were highlighted for members of the Grizzly Cheer Team, volleyball and basketball teams.
This year’s inductees into the Grizzly Hall of Fame were: for volleyball, Candace Saleaumua from National City, California, who starred for the Grizzlies from 2004-2006 and later at Tennessee State University.
The basketball inductee for this year is Charleston, South Carolina, native Terrell Everett. He averaged over 13 points per game from 2002 through 2004, and moved on to average over 12 points per game at the University of Oklahoma.
The Grizzly Track Award, given periodically to a member or members of the Grizzly Booster Club who has shown outstanding support and enthusiasm for Grizzly athletics, was awarded this year to Shawn and Allyson Bice. They established the Mynde Tarter Memorial Volleyball Tournament.
