Leon Kellem, 68, a resident of Buford passed away Thursday, June 5, 2014, at his home.

Visitation will be Saturday, June 7, 2014, from 12 noon until 8:00 p.m., with family receiving friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Conner-Hankins Funeral Home.

The funeral will be held Sunday, June 8, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. at the Conner-Hankins Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Danny Hutcherson and Reverend Louis Stephens officiating. Burial will be in Kirby’s Tucker Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Conner-Hankins Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Richard Kellem, Clayton Kellem, John Conner, Dennis Cantrell, Cody Stafford and Leonard Tilley. Honorary pallbearers will be Lonnie Ash, Willie Burger, Jimmy Cantrell, Leonard Roberts, Mike Waldron, Chance Morris, Carl Jones, Doug Penrose and Gene Cox.

Memorials may be made to the Trinity Baptist Church.

Leon Kellem was born on June 19, 1945, to Ralph and Virgie Roberts Kellem in Mountain Home. He married the former Jean Stafford on October 25, 1963, in Mountain Home and last year celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. He worked most of his life as a truck driver, beginning his early years with Guy Kings & Son, and later becoming a shop foreman for McClain trucking, and as a tanker driver working for Magness Oil and retiring from B&B Oil Company of Searcy, Arkansas. He was a proud member of Trinity Baptist Church. Forced into retirement, he still enjoyed helping his son and grandson in the hayfield when able, and raising his cattle. Known as Mr. fix anything to his daughters he left a large shadow for his son-in-laws to try and fill. He loved his grandchildren, giving a nickname to each, his favorite pastime was going for breakfast at the White Sands in Cotter and spending time with his buddies solving all the world’s problems.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Lonnie (in infancy) and Jerry Kellem.

He is survived by his wife, Jean Kellem of Mountain Home; a son and daughter-in-law, Rev. Richard and Carol Kellem of Mountain Home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Jackie and John Conner of Mountain Home and Donna and Dennis Cantrell of Cotter; three grandchildren, Laiken (Cody) Cantrell-Stafford of Gassville, Kyli Cantrell of Cotter and Clayton Leon Kellem of Mountain Home; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Dorothy Jones of Mountain Home and Connie and Leonard Tilley of Mountain Home and several nieces and nephews.
