Orelia Raye Smith, 91, of Mountain View, Missouri departed this life on October 15, 2013 at Mercy St. Francis Hospital, Mountain View.

Visitation will be Saturday October 19, 2013, 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. at Yarber Mortuary. Funeral Services will be held Saturday October 19, 2013, 11:00 a.m. at Yarber Mortuary, with interment at Pleasant Grove Cemetery.

She was born December 23, 1921 in Fanchon, Missouri, the daughter of Raymond and Georgia (Gilliam) Baser.

Orelia attended Boatman Grade School, then Peace Valley High School, graduating with the class of 1941. Her college education was interrupted by the start of World War II. She trained as a machinist and was employed by Curtis Wright Aircraft of St. Louis. She was also employed by Wagner Electric in St. Louis.

Orelia was united in marriage to Gordon Thomas Smith, Sr. on March 23, 1946 in Clayton, Missouri and to this union four children were born. The family lived in Creve Coeur, Missouri until 1958, when they moved to a farm in Raymondville, Missouri. Then in 1966, they moved to their home in Mountain View.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, two brothers, and two sisters.

Survivors include her children, Cheryle Lynn Starkweather and husband, Rory, Terreton, ID, Gordon Thomas Smith, Jr. and wife, Brenda, Mountain View, Sheila Rae Orchard and husband, Terry, Birch Tree, and Letitia Marie Staton and husband, Ed, Mountain View; one brother; four sisters; eight grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

Orelia was baptized into the Methodist faith in March, 1948. She attended Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church in Teresita.

Orelia enjoyed being Mom, Mom-in-law, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother. She will be dearly missed.
