Johnnie Myron Aiken, 71, of Birch Tree, Missouri departed this life on August 14, 2013 at Mercy St. Francis Hospital, Mountain View, Missouri. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM, Friday, August 16, at Yarber Mortuary, Mountain View. Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 17, at Yarber Mortuary, with interment at Montier Cemetery.

He was born January 2, 1942 in Montier, Missouri, the son of Johnnie Elmer and Virla Tina (Elkins) Aiken.

Myron graduated from Birch Tree High School in 1959. He was united in marriage to Glenda Doris Martin on July 3, 1963 in Montier, Missouri. To this union, one son was born; Tommy Ray.

Myron served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Campaign. Even while in Vietnam, Myron’s heart was in service to the Lord. During his spare time, he worked with a chaplain at an orphanage and often asked Glenda to mail him things that he could give to the children. He also made many lifelong friends during this time.

Myron was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Glenda, of the home; son, Tom and wife, Donna, of Mountain View; two sisters, Alimae Persons and husband, Richard, of Oswego, IL and Jeanette Counts and husband, Johnny, of Montier; three grandchildren, Kayla Aiken of Springfield, MO, Shelby Aiken-McGalliard of Montier, MO, and Lindsay Aiken of Mountain View; and one great grandson, Jalen Aiken-McGalliard.

Myron was a hard worker and always kept busy. When he wasn’t working on his farm or cutting wood, he could be found serving as minister or driving a school bus. He also enjoyed traveling and sight-seeing.

He will be greatly missed by family and friends.
