Funeral services for Opal “Darlene” Strong, 87, West Plains, Missouri, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 2, 2013, in the Rose Chapel at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.

Mrs. Strong died at 3:30 a.m., Tuesday, July 30, 2013, at West Vue Nursing Center.

She was born August 28, 1925, at Dormas, Missouri, to Robert Alton Martin and Ella Routh Martin. On April 6, 1946, she was married at Mountain Home, Arkansas, to Arvis “Buck” Strong, who preceded her in death on August 11, 1995. She was a homemaker and enjoyed her flowers, embroidering, crocheting and loved cooking for her grandkids. Mrs. Strong was a member of the Church of Christ and attended Central Church of Christ.

She is survived by her daughter, Reta Smith, husband, Radis, West Plains, Missouri; three grandchildren, Rhonda Smith, Robin Burgess, husband, Kelly and Rusty Smith, wife, Nicole; eight great-grandchildren, Shanae Goss, Sonja Pettyjohn, husband Shane, J. C. Goss, fiancee’, Breanna Quinn, Ashton Burgess, Preston Burgess, Drew, Kaitlyn and Blake Smith; one great-great-grandchild, Emma Chapman; one brother, Charley Martin, Ardmore, Oklahoma; many nieces and nephews including one niece that she thought of as her own, Deloris Hardin, husband, George, Wichita, Kansas.

Her parents, husband, three brothers, Loyd, Floyd, and Tan Martin, three sisters, Julia Luna, Fronia Thompson and Jessie Martin , precede her in death.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Ball Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Ball Cemetery or Martin Cemetery, and may be left at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. Online condolences may be expressed at
