William F. “Buster” Hillix, Jr. was born in Los Angeles, California on April 30, 1924. He later moved with his family to Lander, Wyoming, then on to Birch Tree, Missouri.

Graveside services will be held Friday, June 28 at 11 AM at Mt. Zion Cemetery under the direction of Yarber Mortuary.

Buster enlisted in the U.S. Navy on August 1, 1941 at the age of 17. He served 6 years on the U.S.S. Mississippi during World War II. Buster received several medals and accommodations. He was discharged May 18, 1947.

Buster married Dana Beth Weaver in 1948. They spent 55 years of their lives together until the time of her death in 2003. Buster spent most of his life in farming and livestock. He was trained as an Agriculture Agent in the early 1950s. Buster was a resident of the Missouri Veterans Home in Mt. Vernon, Missouri for the last 2 1/2 years.

Buster is survived by a son, William F. Hillix, III and wife, Linda; two granddaughters; three great grandchildren; and three sisters, Patricia Station, Barbara Morales, and Judy Williams. Buster had many lifelong friends. He will be missed.
