Violet Marie Kell, 88, died, Feb 13, 2012 at home in Houston, MO after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.

She was born April 25, 1923 in Darien, MO, oldest daughter of William Horace and Maudie Mae Kell. She and Sherman Frank Kell were married April 20th, 1944 in San Francisco, CA. They were married 48 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Oliver and Fay, her husband, Sherman, and a son, Jimmie Kell.

She is survived by her sister and her husband, Erma and Wendell Byler of Bangs, TX, her brother and his wife, Bob and Freda Kell of Raymondville, MO, her son, Sherman Ronald Kell of Mill Valley, CA and her son and his wife, Daniel and Karen Kell of Houston, MO, 11 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She lived for many years in the Parker, Cedar Grove and Big Creek communities and worked at Montauk in her youth. She worked in several factories as a seamstress prior to marrying Sherman and followed him during his Naval service living in many, many states before returning to Houston in 1968. She worked for many years at the Rawlings plant in Licking before retiring. Violet and Sherman collected antiques of all kinds taking a particular delight in the collection of Carnival glass.

She enjoyed sewing, making most of her own clothing and that of her sons through the years.

She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother and friend.

Services will be Feb. 16, at 2 PM in the Evans Funeral Home.

Pastor Beth Duckworth officiating, with burial in North Lawn Memorial Cemetery, Salem, MO. Pallbearers are Ron Kell, Dan Kell, Randy Kell, Terry Kell and Brent Kell, Honorary Pallbearers are Bob Kell and Wendell Byler. Service was under the direction of Evans Funeral Home, Houston, MO.
