Thelma “Sim” Norene Stallcup, age 94, daughter of Lewis Edward and Sarah Ethel (Carter) Campbell was born June 27, 1918 at Upton, MO. She passed away May 31, 2013 at Texas County Memorial Hospital with her family by her side.
She was raised in the Upton Community and attended school at Pleasant Ridge School and Houston High School. Thelma married John Stallcup February 8, 1936 in Houston, MO. They made their home at Dykes, MO and migrated West to Washington where their family grew. John was sent off to WWII, she and her children moved back to Bucyrus to be closer to her parents. They had four children, Ronald, Jerry, Karen and Rita.
Sim is preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Earl Campbell and two sisters; Grace Ragain and Gladys Williamson.
She is survived by her husband of 77 years, John of the home, 2 sons; Ronald Stallcup and wife Dixie of Vandalia, MO, Jerry Stallcup and wife Trudy of Bucyrus, MO 2 daughters; Karen Gallucci and husband Joe of North Canton, Ohio, Rita Alvarado and husband Tony of Holt, MO and 10 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 9 great great-grandchildren.
Sim attended church at Hickory Ridge Church and Peace Chapel. She played the piano and organ and also sang.
She loved working with her hands, she enjoyed crocheting, knitting, quilting and working on puzzles. She made many of her children’s clothes when they were young. Sim made many doilies, afghans and quilts for her family members. Each grandchild received a special gift of her love, by getting an afghan when they graduated high school.
Sim was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother and friend, and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Services were Wed. June 5, 11AM in the Evans Funeral Home. Pastor Russell Kane officiated with burial in the Hickory Ridge Cemetery. Pallbearers were Mark Stallcup, John Gallucci, Tanner Fennewald, Tim Barker, Corey Stallcup, Nicholas Blackwell, Paul Fennewald, and Adam Vasseur.
