John Preston Mulligan, 89, a resident of Mountain Home passed away Thursday, November 8, 2012, at the Good Samaritan Society.

He was born July 4, 1923, in Walhalla, South Carolina to the late John Preston and Mary Cox Mulligan. John married Marijane Schoolcraft on September 30, 1944, in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He retired from the maintenance department at Western Michigan University in 1986. He was a member of the Mall City Barber Shop Chorus for 12 years in Kalamazoo, Michigan. John relocated to Mountain Home from Kalamazoo, Michigan. He was a member of The River Bible Church in Mountain Home. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marijane Mulligan; four brothers and four sisters.

Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Nancy Kay and Phillip Van Dyke of Beaverton, Oregon and Marcia Ann Lamakul of Gassville; five grandchildren and their spouses, Christopher and Laurel Lamakul of Texas, Eric and Anna Smeltzer of Mountain Home, Stephen and Alissa Mynhier of Fort Mill, South Carolina, Conrad Van Dyke of Oregon and Rachel Van Dyke of Oregon; eight great grandchildren, Elizabeth Cronk of Texas, Suzanne Van Dyke of Oregon, Kara and Mandelyn Smeltzer, both of Mountain Home, Jenna and Leah Mynhier, both of South Carolina, Christian Mynhier of South Carolina and Kingston Lamakul of Texas and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m., Sunday, November 11, 2012, at The River Bible Church, 3395 Highway 62 East, Mountain Home, Arkansas with Pastor Eric Smeltzer officiating.

Graveside services will be held 2:00 p.m., Thursday, November 15, 2012, at McMinn Memory Gardens in Athens, Tennessee. Burial will follow under the direction of Conner-Hankins Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The River Bible Church, 3395 Highway 62 East, Mountain Home, Arkansas 72653.
