A memorial service for Ivan Petrey, 84, West Plains, Missouri, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 24, 2012, at the First General Baptist Church, West Plains, Missouri.

Mr. Petrey died at 9:55 a.m., Monday, October 22, 2012, at his home after a battle with cancer.

He was born January 19, 1928, at Osage, Oklahoma, to Joseph and Ivory Petrey. On May 14, 1949, he was married at Willow Springs, Missouri, to Mary Kathryn Counts, who preceded him in death on February 1, 2010. After moving to West Plains, Ivan became a Police Officer and retired from DRS (Southwest Mobile Systems) as a security guard at the age of seventy-seven. He enjoyed being outdoors walking, hiking and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He spent his extra time with special friends, Becky McDaniel and Don Collins. Mr. Petrey was a member of Mt. Zion #327 Masonic Lodge and was of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by two children, Stephen Petrey and Donnis Young, both of West Plains; three grandchildren, Jennifer Petrey, husband, Jeramie, of Rockville, Joshua Young, wife Leilani and Michelle Young, husband Michael, both of West Plains; five great-grandchildren, Courtney Schneiter, husband, Daniel, of Appleton City, Hannah Young, of West Plains, Jamie, Joseph and Isabel Gurley, all of Rockville.

His parents, wife, three brothers, Elmer, J.C. and Clyde Petrey, one sister, Betty Jo Collins, one nephew, Dale Collins, one niece Shawna Sanders and one daughter-in-law, Shirley Petrey, precede him in death.
