Evelyn Virginia Vartan, 76, a resident of Bull Shoals, passed away Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at the Gassville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Gassville.

Evelyn was born December 28, 1935, to Miles and Virginia Terrell Bohne in Salt Lake City, Utah. On February 15, 1952, Evelyn married Ernest Vartan in Torrence, California. They moved from Norwalk, California in 1996 to Bull Shoals, where she was a member of the Bull Shoals Book Club. She was a loving mother who enjoyed bowling, boating and water skiing. She never learned to swim, but her love of water skiing helped her overcome her fear of water. Evelyn was a member of the Retail Clerks Union and the Good Sams RV Club. She had a special love for her dogs, three of which she had named Nikki.

Evelyn is survived by two sons, Gerald (Candy) Vartan of Mountain Home and Dan (Cindy) Vartan of Alta Loma, California; two daughters, Janet (Marty) Piontkowski of Huntington Beach, California and Debbie (Rick) Wright of Athol, Idaho; one brother, Roger (Margie) of Aliso Viejo, California; one sister, Tammy Gillingham of Apple Valley, California; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Ernest and a son, Bill Vartan.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 29, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the Conner-Hankins Funeral Home Chapel with Jay Altazan officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
