Ruth Eleanor Barnhurst, age 82, daughter of Charles H. Holmes and Ruth (Sicker) Holmes, was born May 8, 1930 in Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania. She died August 17, 2012 at her home in Elk Creek, Missouri.

She married William H. Barnhurst on November 23, 1946 at Mount Holly, NJ. They had five children.

The Barnhursts moved to the Elk Creek area November 1971. She was a member of the Houston Seventh-day Adventist Church. She worked as a nurse’s aide at the Kabul Nursing Home and later provided elderly home healthcare. She enjoyed frequenting yard sales and harvesting millions of black walnuts from her farm. Her delight for taking a swim on a hot summer’s day and her love for Christ were unmatched.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, David and Robert Holmes, one sister, Ethel Matthews, her husband William, and son William Barnhurst, Jr.

Surviving are her children; Hope Ruth (John) Gipe of Cascade, MD, Robert (Darlene) Barnhurst of Berrien Springs, MI, Richard Barnhurst of Plymouth, MN, and Dale (Carol) Barnhurst of Collinsville, IL; a sister, Irene Reed of VA and a brother, Charles Holmes of NJ; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 10-11 AM Friday August 24, 2012 in the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, Houston, MO. A Memorial Service will be 11AM-12 PM Friday August 24, 2012 in the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, Houston, MO. Body was cremated.
