John Charland Homod, also known by “Big John and Grand Daddy” 62, died Sunday, July 22, 2012 at his home in Hsrdy, AR. John was born September 18, 1949 in Belzoni, MS. He married Barbara Bailey Homod on July 30, 1982. John was a draftsman, a carpenter, a teacher and an owner of many businesses, past and present. His main passions for life were his family, friends, fishing and loving people. John was a member of the Light House Baptist Church of Hadry, AR.

Survivors include his wife of almost 30 years, Barbara and grandson Cody Homod of the home.; his daughters; Wendy Ward Lute and husband David, of Drew, MS., Amy Ward Charbauski and husban Steve of Ash Flat, AR., son John Homod and wife Erica of Highland, AR.; grandchildren Lauryn Lute, Emily and Luke Charbauski, Sierra , Leah and Hunter Homod and Ethan Homod, great grand daughter, Lakyn Lute. John had three sisters, Judy Wesley and husband Charles of Jonesboro, LA, Jean McLendon and Husband Larry Joe of Brandon, MS and Billie Marie Rushing and husband Jim of Greenville, MS; and a host of many other family and friends.

John was preceded in death by his father John David Homod; his mother Billie McCoy and a son Jim Homod.

Visitation will start Tuesday 6:00pm at First Baptist Church of Hardy, AR.. Funeral services will be 10:00am Wednesday at the church. with burial following at Baker Cemetery under the direction of Heath Funeral Home of Highland. Pallbearers are Alex Hester, Steven Law, Michael Ward, Roger Stark, Mike Asher and Shane Russell.

Family requests in lieu of flowers to please make monetary donations to Camp Quality, P.O. Box 9095, Jonesboro, AR. 72403. Camp Quality provides the opportunity for children with cancer to be children again-to have fun, participate in exciting activites and make new friends who identify with their situation, or Baker Cemetery Association, contact Paul Garner.

    I just read about ..oh-john…he was a good man he deserved more than he got . he did like his fishin .he was a exc. craftsman build anything you wanted and do it right ……….he was a good running partner on the truck I really enjoyed running with oh-john…I really missed him wish he hadnt been taked from me when he was .boy god got him a goodern when he hit heaven…..OH-JOHN…..iM GONNA MISS YOU PARD
