Opal Martin

Opal Tessie Martin, 86, of Willow Springs, Missouri departed this life on February 18, 2015 at Willow Care Nursing Home, Willow Springs. She was born July 15, 1928 in Douglas County, Missouri, the daughter of Willis and Zella Pearl (Johnson) Davis.

Tessie was united in marriage to Charles Wilson Martin on April 3, 1948 in Willow Springs, Missouri. One son, Charles Leroy Martin, was born to this union.

She is preceded in death by her parents; spouse, Wilson in 2000; brothers, Freddy Darrell Davis in 2009 and Claud Davis in 2012.

Survivors include her son, Charles Martin, of Grapevine, TX; two sisters, Helen Louise Hanks of Willow Springs and Betty Altis of Cabool, MO; and grandchildren, Caitlin Paige Martin and Jonathan Willis Martin, both of Grapevine, TX.

Tessie was a loving, devoted mother, always smiling and willing to talk to others, to lend a sympathetic ear and advice when asked. She was active in teaching Sunday School and other classes at Northside Baptist Church in St. Charles, Missouri before she and Wilson retired to Willow Springs. Tessie was currently a member of First Baptist Church in Willow Springs.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 23, 2015, with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m., at Yarber Mortuary, Willow Springs with Pastor Joel Hinds officiating. Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Willow Springs. Memorials may be made to Pine Grove Cemetery Fund or to Alzheimer’s Association. Condolences may be expressed at www.yarbermortuary.com.
