Martha H. Autrey, 92 years, passed to Heaven on June 2, 2015 at Ava Place.
Martha was born October 24, 1922 in Budapest, Hungary to Michael and Elizabeth (Kimar) Hajos.
Martha lived an exotic life. Born in Hungary, she escaped with her first husband, Zoltan Farkas, at the end of the second World War and went to a refugee camp in Austria where her first child, Martha, was born. They then moved to Leon, France where Edith and George were born. From there they moved to Ecuador where daughter Eve was born.As a step before moving to the US, they immigrated to Canada where her last child, Peter, was born. Immediately before immigrating to the US, Martha and the family moved to Paraguay for a year while Zoltan was on assignment for the United Nations. As a result of her travels, Martha spoke six languages. She enjoyed preparing recipes for her family from the different countries in which she had lived. Martha had a beautiful singing voice and was an accomplished amateur painter. She was also accomplished in the traditional arts and crafts; knitting, sewing, crocheting, and gardening, but was also not afraid to swing a hammer and do what needed to be done around the house. Martha met her beloved second husband, John Autrey, at the cemetery after Zoltan had passed away. They married 29 years ago, and had an exciting life together. John built Martha a beautiful two story home by hand in Pioneer, CA. Over 20 years ago they moved to the Brixey area to be near Johns family and fell in love with the beauty of the Ozarks. Having come home, they never wanted to leave.
Martha was preceded by her parents, her first husband Zoltan, and three children, Martha, Edith, and George and a step son, Ron Autrey.
Martha is survived by her husband John, a daughter, Eve Mailly and husband Bruce, Escondido, CA, a son, Peter Farkas, Baldwin Park, CA, one step daughter, Linda Christensen of Fresno, CA, four grand children, Andrea Pietzch and husband Florian of Sydney, Australia, Ryan Christie and wife Karla of Milton, Canada, Kimberly Duke and husband Bryce of Tyler, TX, and Michael Farkas of Kent, WA, three great grand children, as well as many other relatives in Hungary.
