Go Green Festival to feature speakers discussing herbs, Common Core

(Thayer) – Several speakers have been chosen for the Go Green Self-Reliance Festival, which will be held in Thayer City Park October 17-18.

Dr. Mary Byrnes, a well-known educator and opponent of the Common Core education program, will speak about Common Core. Brandsville resident Karl William Reid, who is also concerned with education, will address ways to save the educational system in Missouri, according to event organizer Mike Slack.

Also scheduled to speak will be Dave Lohr, owner of Kosh Trading Post and a skilled mountain man, who will demonstrate survival skills, Dawn McPherson of Thayer, who works with herbal medicines, tonics and potions, and Christinia Shaw, who will explain the Bowen Therapy method of natural pain relief.

The Go Green Self Reliance Festival is dedicated to promoting and supporting the local economy, sustainable living, agriculture, alternative renewable energy, preparedness, and positive community activities, held in Thayer City Park by the rodeo arena the festival averages 16 speakers, 150 vendors and 3,000 or more in attendance. Attendance is free, there is no cost for vendors and vendor spaces are still available.
