Eldie Reeves

Eldie “Red” Marion Reeves, 91, Mountain View MO., passed away Sunday, May 31, 2015, in West Vue Nursing Center, West Plains MO. “Red” was born May 20, 1924, in Montier MO., the son of Eldie Aaron and Ruth Myrtle (German) Reeves.

After returning from WWII, serving in the European Theater, Pacific Theater, France and the Philippines, “Red” married Sarah Lee Pierce August 23, 1948 in Eminence, MO. To this union, three children were born, Patti, Janet and Larry. “Red” loved being a father and husband. Soon after their marriage, they relocated to Farmington, MO and started their family. They then moved to Flat River, where he worked as a contractor/construction person building houses in the area. In 1961 “Red” started working and commuting to St. Louis, Mo. for McDonnell Douglas and in 1963 “Red” and Sarah moved to O’Fallon MO, in St. Charles County. There he continued working for McDonnell Douglas of St. Louis in the mach-up division and later retired from the St. Charles plant in shipping. He was a member of the Birch Tree VFW.

When “Red” retired in 1989, they returned to the Ozarks, the land they loved, living in Eminence. He worked with the local Senior Citizens Center and raising monies for several needs of the community. After moving to Mountain View in 2002, he continued serving the Mountain View Senior Citizens and collected truckloads of metal tabs for the Ronald McDonald House. “Red” loved country music, all styles and was known to play a guitar on occasion. He loved being with people and thoroughly loves children.

“Red” will be missed by many family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife Sarah in 2008; his parents, Eldie and Ruth Reeves; brother, Ray; and two sisters May and Irene.

He is survived by his youngest sibling Dolly Sorenson of Basin, WY.; two daughters Patti and husband, Gary Scronce, of N. Fort Myers, FL., Janet and husband, Bill Hohn, of Mountain View, MO.; and “favorite” son Larry Reeves and wife, Lisa, of Fordland, MO.; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews throughout the US.

Visitation will be held from 6 pm to 8 pm Friday June 5, 2015, at Yarber Mortuary, Mountain View MO. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday June 6, 2015 also at Yarber Mortuary. Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Mountain View, MO. Memorials may be made to the Mountain View Senior Center. Condolences may be expressed at www.yarbermortuary.com.
