(West Plains) – A West Plains man faces felony stealing charges after he reportedly stole several lawn and home care items from a residence.
27-year-old David Bates was arrested Tuesday and held on $4500 bond.
Court documents state that a man who lives on Howell County Road 142 called the sheriff’s department on September 9 to report that he had several items stolen from his property, including a leaf blower, a chainsaw, weed trimmer, a pressure washer and two deer stands, and that he had taken photographs of the suspect. The victim told investigators that he had found the leaf blower at a store in Moody, and it was sold to the store by Bates, who had worked at the victim’s house doing renovation work earlier this year. The store owner identified Bates as the man he purchased the blower, the chainsaw and weed trimmer from for $125. Investigators went to the address listed as Bates’ home, however they were told he doesn’t live there.
The property taken was valued at $1600, with roughly $1100 in property unaccounted for.
