Items on the ballot for West Plains includes the adoption of the city charter document, and a council seat. Incumbent Brenda Smith is running for reelection against Dennis Beasley.
In Willow Springs aldermen Troy Yonker and Susan Rackley are running unopposed for reelection. Willow Springs voters will also choose three school board members.
In Mountain View, Mayor Patrick Reed is running unopposed for reelection, as is east ward alderman Paul O’Brien. West ward alderman Jeremy Burks is running for reelection against Lindell Vandevort. Three positions on the Mountain View-Birch Tree school board are also open.
Other ballot issues include a tax in the Fairview School District, which seeks to borrow $2.55 million to improve safety at district facilities, which includes the construction of a new lobby, intercoms and cameras, and the revamping of the gymnasium, with a corridor connecting the gym to the existing building. The tax levy would go from $0 to $.40 per $100 assessed valuation on real and personal property.
School board elections will also take place in Howell Valley and the Koshkonong School Districts, and for the Howell County 911 board.
East alderman Patricia Fulks and west alderman Ronnie Bunch in Brandsville are running unopposed.
The deadline to register to vote in the upcoming election is March 12 at 5 PM. To register, visit the Howell County Clerk’s Office in the Howell County Office Building, formerly the Bank of America building, in downtown West Plains.
