(West Plains) – The West Plains Area Disc Golf Club is hosting its 2nd Annual Ice Bowl Disc Golf Tournament at 9 AM Saturday, January 4, at the Brett Stoddard Memorial Disc Golf Course, which is located approximately 12 miles south of West Plains on Highway 17.
Ozark Radio News spoke with Chairman of West Plains Area Disc Golf Club Mike Sisco who told us about the registration process and the tournament:
Ice Bowls are held all over the country every year for the purpose of raising money for charities. The emphasis of Ice Bowls is to raise money and food for the hungry, and last year, The West Plains Area Disc Golf Club’s 1st Annual Ice Bowl raised $402 and over 150 pounds of food for The Martha Vance Samaritan Outreach Center.
Sisco added that the slogan of Ice Bowls has always been “no wimps and no whiners”. Short of extremely dangerous roads, the tournament will not be cancelled due to weather or conditions:
Sisco also shared that Disc Golf is a lot like regular golf and that all players and non-players are welcome:
The entry fee is only $25 per player. Players are encouraged to bring at least three pounds of nonperishable food to receive a $5 discount on their entry.
Although players can register the day of, they are encouraged to pre-register by contacting Sisco at 417-293-0292.
