(Fayetteville) – Customers at participating Wal-Mart stores in Arkansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, and parts of Kansas and Illinois will have the opportunity to donate personal care items from Thursday, October 30, to Monday, November 11.
Items such as tissues, soap, shampoo, and deodorant can be placed into purple in-store donation bins to support children in their local community as part of Champions for Kids’ “SIMPLE Giving” program. The donated items will be distributed to local children in the school district where each Wal-Mart store is located.
The SIMPLE Giving program is a unique departure from the traditional “give at the register” model of charitable giving. Instead of asking people to donate money, SIMPLE Giving provides an opportunity for people to give needed items directly to children in their own communities. The focus for October and November donations is personal hygiene items.
Area Walmart locations participating include the location in Houston, Mountain View, Mountain Grove, Thayer, West Plains, Ava, Mountain Home, Flippin, and Ash Flat.
In September, the SIMPLE Giving program provided over 70,000 donated snacks for children going back to school. For a list of participating stores and more information, go to championsforkids.org/simplegiving.
