(Tecumseh) – A Tecumseh man is lucky to be alive after a near-drowning incident while on the North Fork River.
KYTV reports that Russ Cochran was pulled in by an undertow that sent him and his four dogs underneath the dam at Dawt Mill. Cochran says he was aware of a hole in the dam that allowed water in, but didn’t know about another hole under the water line that was causing the undertow.
He received minor cuts and bruises. The dogs also survived.
After the incident, the Army Corps of Engineers examined the hole and are working to fix it. Currently, there is a sign there telling people to avoid that section of the water.
