(West Plains) – The West Plains Police Department is encouraging parents to be vigilant after a possible synthetic drug was found at the West Plains High School.
Information Officer Jeremy Pounders with the West Plains Police Department told Ozark Radio News that a child was taken to Ozarks Medical Center after the child reportedly used the substance. The child had an “altered mental status” and was “very combative”.
Pounders says on May 8, two students at the high hchool were found to be in possession of a number of vials of a red liquid substance in a small spray bottle.
Some of the symptoms the student who allegedly consumed the substance was exhibiting included:
- An altered mental status
- Being in a deep sleep overnight
- Uncontrollable hyperactivity
- Combative and/or violent behavior
Pounders says that parents should talk with their children, and report any suspicious activity:
The liquid is being sent to the Missouri State Highway Patrol Lab in Jefferson City for identification. No word on whether charges will be filed in the case, which Pounders says is still under investigation.
