(Mountain Home) – The White River Artistsʼ “Plein Air on the White River” 2014 will be held April 30 – May 3 in Cotter, Arkansas and at the Vada Sheid Community Development Center at Arkansas State University-Mountain Home. Over fifty registered artists from Arkansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Texas, competed in last yearʼs event, and that number is expected to increase to sixty or more this year.
Bruce Peil is the guest juror this year. Bruce lives in Athens, Texas, and is a Signature member of Oil Painters of America and co-founder and Signature member of Outdoor Painters Society. He has been featured in several leading art publications including Art Journal America Landscapes, Southwest Art, and The Artistʼs Magazine.
The Saturday, May 3 reception, judging, show, and sale will be in the Vada Sheid Community Development Center at Arkansas State University-Mountain Home from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m.. This unique opportunity allows the public to view and purchase original artwork of local scenes and meet the award-winning artists. The public is invited to this free event.
In addition, the Cotter Chamber of Commerce will spotlight the artists and their Quick Draw (QD) artwork during the Cotter Trout Festival kickoff barbecue dinner Friday night, May 2. It is being promoted as “An Evening of Art, Music, and Barbecue.”
