56-year-old Daniel Sanders was charged Tuesday in Gainesville with one count of forcible rape and one count of forcible sodomy. Court documents state that the woman involved in the charges reportedly met Sanders on a dating website, and the two talked for several weeks before meeting in person for a fishing date on Lake Norfork. That’s where Sanders reportedly used a date rape drug to subdue the female and comitted the acts he was charged with.
Authorities say that they served a search warrant at Sanders’ cabin on Lake Norfork near Udall, where they reportedly found a computer with images of other women, including the one involved in the case, in suggestive poses.
If Sanders is convicted on rape and sodomy, he could receive prison sentences between five and 30 years.
The Ozark County Sheriff’s Department believes other women have been victimized by Sanders. If you think you were a victim, please call the Ozark County Sheriff’s Department at 417-679-4633.
