(West Plains) – The West Plains City Council met on Monday August 19 at 5:30 PM for their regular council meeting. During the meeting many issues were discussed, but probably the most interesting issue of the night was the Monks Street situation.
West Plains City Administrator Tom Stehn read his recommendation to the council on the proposed Monks Street issue. Before the council voted unanimously to approve Stehn’s recommendation to connect to Highway 63, Mayor Jack Pahlmann opened discussion to the audience.
David Dunlap, a Monks Street resident, spoke on multiple occasions during the meeting, and said he feels that opening Monk Street will destroy the neighborhood:
