(Jefferson City) – The Missouri State Highway Patrol has released their statistics for the Labor Day Holiday Weekend, which included a total of seven traffic crash fatalities.
The counting period ran from 6PM, Friday, August 30, through 11:59PM, Monday, September 2. During that time, the patrol also investigated 248 traffic crashes, which included 112 injuries and five of the seven fatalities.
Troopers also made 119 arrests for driving while intoxicated in 2013.
There were zero boating fatalities and no drownings reported, but Troopers did investigate nine boating crashes involving seven injuries. Troopers arrested 14 people for boating while intoxicated over the weekend. During the 2012 Labor Day weekend, officers investigated three boating crashes, which included one injury and no fatalities.
Of the five traffic crash fatalities troopers investigated, three occurred in the Troop D, Springfield area, and one occurred in the Troop C, Weldon Spring area, and the Troop F, Jefferson City area.
