(Gainesville) – Democratic 8th Congressional District Candidate Jack Rushin, a chiropractor from Poplar Bluff, spoke Thursday evening to the Ozark County Democrat Party meeting, held at Carla’s Country Cafe in Gainesville.
At the meeting, Rushin spoke to the crowd of about 20 about the main tenants of his platform, which he says focuses on common sense and responsibility. He says that government doesn’t necessarily have to be small to be great, but that it should be productive, work efficiently and spend money wisely. Rushin also said he will focus more on economic and job issues than social issues if elected to Congress.
Rushin also condemned Republican lawmakers in Washington for stalling progress in the government, saying that their mission since President Barack Obama was elected was to make him a one-term president by keeping Congress gridlocked, and making the President look ineffective in the process.
Ozark County Democrat Party secretary Dennis Lawson spoke with Ozark Radio News and said that he enjoyed the speech and Rushin’s “evidence-based” approach to politics:
Ozark Radio News also spoke with Rushin, who enjoyed the meeting and speaking to the constituents. Rushin says that he hopes that more Republicans and Independents will come and listen to him and have dialogue:
