(West Plains) – An Oregon County man has pled guilty to the murder and dismemberment of an Alton woman.
After spending over a year in prison for murder charges, 47-year-old Guy Varnell has pleaded guilty to the murder of 51-year-old Narda Pranke.
Prosecuting Attorney Fred O’Neill announced the plea deal on July 29, the day before Varnell’s trial was set to begin in Howell County.
Varnell has been sentenced to life in prison for first-degree murder and seven years for gun theft.
On March 8, 2012, Varnell pleaded not guilty at his first court appearance. In April, a change of venue was granted to Howell County.
Varnell will be transported to the Missouri Department of Corrections to serve his life sentence.
