(Mountain View) – The Agape House Inc. of Mountain View, a shelter for victims of domestic violence, has undertaken a tax credit project in conjunction with and underwritten by the Missouri Department of Economic Development, Neighborhood Assistance Program.
Tax credits may be issued at 70% of the contribution value to individuals having farm income, royalties, or rental properties as well as corporations, S-Corps, L.L.C.’s, partnerships, sole proprietors, of financial institutions. The Agape House has been receiving donations from churches, but such organizations do not qualify for tax credits.
The Agape House has secured contracts allowing the 70% tax credits for contributions with a total allotment of over $207,000 through March 2014.
Such contributions benefit donors on their Federal and Missouri income taxes. These credits may be used over the next five (5) tax years.
Contributions are earmarked for and help finance operational expenses for the shelter. Your tax preparer may be able to help inform you of the advantages of tax credits. Qualified donors also have the added benefit of knowing where large portions of their tax dollars are spent.
Donations of $500 or more qualify for these tax credits. If interested, please contact Board Treasurer and Project Director Garry Cooley at 417-934-2314 or the Agape House at 417-934-5721.
