(West Plains) – Carol Silvey, a former history professor and the first director of development at Missouri State University-West Plains, was one of five former Missouri State University faculty and staff inducted into the university’s Wall of Fame during a special ceremony Friday afternoon, October 26, at the Plaster Student Union on the Springfield campus.

During Silvey’s nearly 38-year tenure with the university, she taught students the importance of their roots, advised students as they collected over 1,000 hours of oral histories, grew the campus’ endowment to more than $1 million, established the campus’ development board and advisory board, and won numerous awards, including the Business and Professional Women’s Woman of the Year Award, the West Plains Chamber of Commerce’s Volunteer of the Year and Lifetime Achievement Awards, Outstanding Rotarian for Community Service Award, Mountain Grove Chamber of Commerce’s Lifetime Achievement Award, and the university’s Staff Community Service Award.

Silvey is the first Missouri State-West Plains employee selected for the Wall of Fame.
