(Salem)- The 2014 Fulton County Fair will be held from July 28, to August 2, in Salem, Arkansas. This year’s fair theme is “Where Everyone Wins” and the fair offers a week-long venue for family fun and education.

New this year is reduced price armband tickets if purchased in advance at the Day at the Fair sponsors.

Creative Arts exhibits will check-in on Monday, July 28, from 11AM-6PM. All creative arts exhibits including baked items and flowers and horticulture will check-in on Monday. This is a change from last year’s schedule. All Creative Arts exhibits will be judged on Tuesday and the exhibit building will open for public viewing on Tuesday at 3PM.

The annual Fair Horse Show will start at 6PM on Tuesday in the Everett Show Arena. A new Horse Show Queen, Junior Queen and Princess will be crowned during the Horse Show. Round Robin Team Roping will be held in the Clayton-Plumlee-Walling Arena at 7:30PM on Tuesday night. The entry fee is $100 with a 60% Payback. The roping is limited to 15-Headers-15 Healers – Enter one time and capped at #6. Ropers should contact Tyler Jackson at 870-371-0702 to enter and for more information.

Wednesday is First National Banking Co. Day at the Fair and the day will start with Veterans Day. All veterans are invited to attend a special program planned in their honor at 10AM. A special tribute will be given to World War II veterans and the speaker will be Colonel James Paul Rowlett, Director of Intelligence Arkansas National Guard. Colonel Rowlett grew up in Salem and is retired from the US Air Force. FNBC will provide lunch for veterans and their spouses. Call the Fulton County Fair office at 870-895-5565 to pre-register for Veterans Day to help in planning food.

Tickets are available at RLH Construction, FNBC, Bank of Salem, North Arkansas Electric, and Hill’s Auto Sales. Advance armband tickets are $15 and they will be $18 if purchased on the fairgrounds after the fair opens. Tickets are also available at the Fulton County Fair Office during regular office hours. Armbands can be used any night and are good from 6-10PM.

Due to the loss of Civic Center Building from ice and snow buildup last winter, all beauty pageants will be held on Saturday, July 26, at the Salem First Baptist Church on Highway 62 East. Pageants for ages 4 months-10 years will be held at 3PM and the Young Miss, Junior Fair Queen, and Fulton County Fair Queen pageants will start at 7PM.

Gate admission will cover all events except the carnival and it is $6 for teens and adults, $4 for youth age 6-12 and under 6 is free. Parking is free. For more information on the county fair call 870-895-5565. Information on all fair events is available online at
