(Alton) – Two people were injured, one of them seriously, after a two-vehicle accident Thursday morning.

The accident happened at 7 AM on Oregon County Road 405, about 5 miles north of Alton, when the northbound vehicle driven by 20-year-old Laurel Brown of Couch struck a southbound vehicle driven by 33-year-old Fiona Sargent of Alton head-on as both vehicles crested at the top of a hill.

Brown suffered serious injuries and was taken to Mercy Hosptial in Springfield by ambulance. Sargent suffered minor injuries and refused treatment at the scene.
