(West Plains) – During the West Plains Chamber of Commerce Banquet on Thursday, Chamber Vice Chair Ron Grennan of Grennan Communications announced that after 15 months of preparation, West Plains will be receiving a Walk of Fame.
The inaugural class of inductees being placed into the Walk of Fame includes two members from two separate categories. Every year additional recipients will be honored and added to the Walk of Fame.
There has not been a date set for the induction ceremony, but it will take place this coming spring.
The first category will be a selection of West Plains citizens that have gained national recognition. For the inaugural class Porter Wagoner and Jan Howard will be honored on the West Plains Square.
The second category will be a selection of citizens who have helped give West Plains its identity and will be honored on Washington Avenue. The category will include Ozark Radio Network founder Robert “Bob” Neathery and coach Joe Bill Dixon.
The 2012 and 2013 Citizens of the Year, Reed Grigsby and Mike Topliff, along with all the other past Citizens of the Year recipients will be placed along the Walk of Fame as well.
