(West Plains) – With the temperatures dropping at night, people are turning to various forms of heating their home, and while having the space heater close by sounds like a great idea, it may not be.

West Plains City Clerk Mallory Prewett says that the West Plains Fire Department is offering a number of tips for people to stay safe during the cold weather:

She also says that people should be mindful of their electrical outlets and Christmas decorations:

She also reminds residents that if they are planning on burning leaves, they should call the fire department for burn permits. Call 417-256-2424, or 417-255-2440 to get a permit.
