(Thomasville) – A close-knit community in Southeast Missouri will be saying their final farewell to a well known and loved restaurant this weekend, which has survived the challenges of the economy, location, and numerous flood scares.

Owners Paula and Buck Miller announced back in mid-September that the River’s Edge Fish & Grill in Thomasville will officially be closing their doors after their final meal is served on Saturday, October 5.

Paula Miller spoke with Ozark Radio News about the recent decision to close their doors. Miller shared that with their children raised, it was time to slow down a little bit to enjoy their grandchildren.

Since opening for business in 1999, River’s Edge has become well known for their variety of menu items and desserts. Miller said that the some of the best parts of running the restaurant included getting to know the customers and making new friends. Over the years, Miller shared that they had employed many high school students as dish washers, table bussers, or waitresses. For many of them it was their first job, but Miller said that working with the students was always a joy.

Miller explained that the building has been owned by her parents for the last 50 years and currently there are no plans to do anything further with it. She said that if anyone was interested in buying the business, they would consider doing such.

River’s Edge Fish & Grill will be open 11AM- 9PM on Friday, October 4, and Saturday, October 5.
