(Mountain Home) – A convicted felon and Gassville resident was arrested by Baxter County Sheriff Deputies on Friday, August 23, at approximately 9:42PM for possession of firearms.

Deputies were called to the 31 Woodhaven Lane near Gassville on the report of gunshots being fired in the area. Upon arrival at the scene, deputies spoke with 29-year-old Gilberto Salinas who claimed the he knew nothing about any gunfire and that there were no firearms in the residence.

Following the discovery of a loaded magazine for a pistol in plan view and an NCIC inquiry that revealed Salinas to be a convicted felon, from the state of Texas, and thereby prohibited from possessing firearms; he was arrested.

Deputies later discovered several firearms and some ammunition inside the residence which were seized and taken into evidence.

At report time Salinas remained incarcerated in lieu of a $15,000 bond, with a court appearance date set for September 5.
