(West Plains) – Officials with the MU Extension Office in Howell County say that people should be aware of a scam that has entered the area.
Recently, farmers in southwest Missouri have been part of a scam selling a herbicide over the phone. The calls have consisted of a salesman saying that he has a product, Trilete, that will work great for the farmers weed problems and then asks for a credit card. When researching the product Trilete, extension specialist have not come up with much information, and it seems to be nonexistent.
Officials urge people to remember to be cautious whenever purchasing products over the phone. For questions on a herbicide that is unfamiliar, please call your local extension center for more information.
