(Springfield) – A company that manufactures small motors and related products said Tuesday that it will close their Springfield plant by the end of 2014, laying off about 330 employees.

Regal Beloit said in a news release that it will transfer the work of the plant at 2401 E. Sunshine St. to other plants in the United States and Mexico.

The Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce lists Regal Beloit as the 48th largest employer in the Springfield metro area, which includes Greene, Christian, Webster, Polk and Dallas counties

Regal Beloit is headquartered in Beloit, WI. The company website says it sold $3.1 billion worth of products and had net income of $195 million in 2012.

A Regal Beloit plant is located in West Plains.
