(West Plains) – OMC held a ribbon cutting for its new community education center, located in Parkway Center in West Plains, on Monday, April 22.
The event celebrated the first phase of renovations completed at Parkway Center since OMC purchased the facility in 2012. OMC plans to renovate a total of approximately 20,500 square feet of the 44,000 square feet of space OMC had been renting at a projected investment of $2.1 million for the purpose of improving delivery and access to health care services.
The Community Education Center is home to community and health education classes including diabetes care, cancer, heart disease prevention and healthy eating. In 2012, 180 classes were offered by OMC Education Services with approximately 1,169 participants.
One of the classrooms was dedicated to Willard M. Hunter, in honor of him being OMC’s longest serving founding trustee, having served from 1955 to 1992.
