(West Plains) – The Child Advocacy Center will host the second “Voice for a Child” 5k and family walk/run Saturday, May 4 at 8 AM at Carmichael Field in West Plains, and end at the South Central Child Advocacy Center, 411 Garfield St.

The event is open to runners and walkers of all abilities and includes a 5K walk/run and a one-mile fun run. Early registrants are guaranteed an event t-shirt; early registration ends April 12. Participants may register online at or by completing a registration form available from the South Central Child Advocacy Center in West Plains and the Child Advocacy Center in Springfield.

Awards will be presented to the top three finishers in each age group, as well as to the top three overall winners. Refreshments, children’s activities and tours of the South Central CAC will be provided immediately following the race. The event also features door prizes and a stuffed animal to the first 75 children who register and finish the race.

Proceeds from the run will benefit the South Central Child Advocacy Center which opened its doors in 2011 to serve families in south central Missouri, serving Douglas, Howell, Oregon, Ozark, Texas, Wright and a portion of Shannon counties.
