(Jefferson City) – On Monday, the Senate Judiciary and Civil and Criminal Jurisprudence Committee met to hear several proposals, including Senate Bill 253, legislation that would modify provisions relating to criminal law. The measure is sponsored by Senate Minority Floor Leader Jolie Justus (D-Kansas City):

Senators returned to the floor and debated Bill 29, a measure that would require authorization for certain labor unions to use dues and fees to make political contributions and bar them from withholding earnings from paychecks. During debate, discussion turned toward EMTs and other medical personnel, describing how they would be affected by this legislation. State Sen. Dan Brown (R-Rolla) is the sponsor of the bill, which has been given first-round approval:

Senators on Tuesday debated a bill that, if approved by voters, would amend Missouri’s constitution to raise the state sales and use tax by 1 percent for a period of 10 years to fund transportation needs.
