(West Plains) – Howell-Oregon Electric Cooperative (HOEC) says that they have an emergency preparedness plan in place in case of major power outages caused by the expected ice storm coming through the region this evening.

The emergency preparedness plan includes requesting help from other electric cooperative crews from outside the HOEC service area to assist in safe and efficient power restoration in the event of widespread damage from the storm.

Myles Smith, HOEC Manager of Member Services, says that safety during dangerous storms is a number one priority of HOEC, and that if a power line goes down near you or your home, stay away from the downed line and report the incident to the cooperative immediately.

HOEC encourages members to prepare for any extended power outages and stock up on food, water and any other necessary previsions as a precautionary measure.
