Goldie Newton

Goldie Newton, 101, of Zanoni, MO passed away on January 27, 2015 at the Gainesville Healthcare Center. She was born on September 17, 1913 in Zanoni, MO daughter of Jack and Leila (Piland) Smith.

Funeral services for Goldie were held at 1 p.m. Thursday, January, 29, 2015 in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home chapel, Gainesville, MO with Wayne Stewart officiating. Burial will be in the Smith Chapel Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to the Smith Chapel Cemetery and left at the funeral home. Arrangements are by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Gainesville, MO.

Goldie received her education from New Hope School. On September 11, 1927, she and H.D. Newton were united in marriage by Ike Smith in Sycamore, Missouri. H.D. preceded her in death on April 23, 1993. Goldie and her husband owned & operated a country store for 30 years. They were cattle and pig farmers. Goldie also worked at Baxter Lab in Mountain Home, AR for 23 years. She loved spending time outside checking her cows and working in her many flower gardens. She loved spending time with all of her grandkids.

She is survived by three children, Gene Newton and wife Maggie, Colleen Irby and husband Jim and Sharlene Crites and husband Don; one daughter-in-law Ann Newton; nine grandchildren Kathy Volkerding and husband Bob, Stan Newton, Scott Newton, Pat Nunnally and husband Edward, Gary Cudworth and wife Shanna, Terry Newton and wife Rhonda, Kevin Newton, Rick Crites and wife Sarah and Mindy Trail and husband Eric; one sister Violet Newton; eighteen great grandkids; and sixteen great-great grandkids.

She was preceded in death by her husband H.D. Newton; one son Doin Newton; five brothers; one sister; five half brothers; and five half sisters.
